Story Of CPG’s Social Contribution And Sustaining Its Manufacturing Operation Due To Shortage Of Oxygen

During the second wave of COVID, there was an acute shortage of Oxygen as a lot of patients require Oxygen during the treatment when they are admitted to the hospital.

Because of the high oxygen demand, CPG banned the use of Oxygen even two days before the circular released by Govt. of India for banning Oxygen in Industries. On that day CPG had around 100 Oxygen Cylinders and 4 numbers (250 Litre each) Oxygen tanks.

CPG informed the local administration that we are ready to give oxygen cylinders to the designated hospitals. Then at the request of different Hospitals, CPG gave 2 oxygen tanks, each to, Gulati Hospital and J.P. Hospital, Yamuna Nagar (Haryana). CPG had given 40 oxygen cylinders to Waryam Singh Hospital, Yamuna Nagar, and given the oxygen cylinders to the relatives of Staff & Management.

To sustain the manufacturing/working (due to non-availability of oxygen), CPG took immediate steps:

  • Purchase of 4 Nos. Plasma Cutting Machine (1 for cutting up to 50mm thickness and 3 for cutting up to 25mm thickness).
  • Purchased several cutting machines (chop saws) to cut lighter sections.
  • Made it compulsory to use Shearing Machine, bend saw, Iron breaker, etc.

In this way, CPG sustained its working, so that delays in deliveries can be minimized. The work was held up only for plate cutting (more than 50mm thickness).

Our motive was, on one side, to help society at this crucial time and on the other hand, we did not want to delay the deliveries of our customers.
